Yes, I'd like to taste your chapstick I don't even know your name Feel like I should know your name Before we screw around Well, I guess this is happening I've got a bad feeling about this When you take your clothes off I can see your cool tattoos I don't have cool tattoos But yours look good And I'd like to reassure you That you're probably really nice But I don't know if you're nice I mean, I think you just drew blood Well, I guess this is happening I've got a bad feeling about this And I've got a bad feeling about this I'm past the point of no return If you know what I mean I just hope to all that's holy That you're actually eighteen I wake up in a panic 'Cause I dreamed I was your boyfriend I know I'm not your boyfriend But you're on my chest Oh, I know you can be manic But I've seen your cigarette burns They're nasty cigarette burns But I'm hoping for the best Oh, please let this be happening I know it shouldn't be happening And I've got a bad feeling about this

(What can I say? Ah... welcome home.) So this is my mansion, boy. Do you like the chandeliers? I got lots of food and drink and sweet perfumes, yeah I hope you'll like it here Go get comfortable, boy, you can make yourself at home There's a big luscious room prepared for you, it's a place you can call your own It's where I keep a lot of lovely boys and girls, just like you I'll feed you regularly and make sure you get your exercise, too You'll get a beautiful brand new cage here, and I hope you find it cozy You're gonna be the centerpiece of my menagerie You're my Mexican Wartfrog It's written on that sign When you quack-quack-quack-quack-quack I nearly lose my mind Ooh, verruca Mexicanus You and me we're gonna be famous All these other animals and you and me Living here in my menagerie Yeah Look around at your neighbours, boy, I got lots of lovely little sweeties Ooh, I could be put in jail for housin' all of these endangered species I'm pretty sure the world believes these little butterflies have gone extinct Well, they just had some brand new baby caterpillars -- so whatcha think? Oh, I got Boojum birds and Dodo birds and Snipes and unicorns and Bandersnatches I think this egg's got a dinosaur inside, but I won't know until it hatches There's a giant squid in my aquarium, and it's best friends with my Kraken Ooh, boy, my zoo is almost perfect, but you can make that happen I got babies with teeth the size of my arm, and ones with seventy eyes Oh, but of all the crazy little fauna, you're my golden prize Ooh, verruca Mexicanus You and me we're gonna be famous All these other animals and you and me Living here in my menagerie

Hard Candy 01:32
They told me boys are bitter They told me girls are sweet I told them you can't tell me who to be or what to eat I'm taking off the wrapper Yeah read my painted lips And I'm delicious from my styled hair down to my hips I'm so sweet I'll crack your teeth So fucking bite me I'm hard candy They said the boys are hungry They said the girls are meat I told them you can't tell me who to be or what to eat I'm so sweet I'll crack your teeth So fucking bite me I'm hard candy They told me boys are bitter They told me girls are sweet I told them you can't tell me who to be or what to eat I'm so sweet I'll crack your teeth So fucking bite me I'm hard candy

The last bullet has been fired, the last bubble has been blown We were always single player, now we're really on our own And I'd love to just Continue, but pal, you know I know We've opened up this can of worms, and now I have to go Those Shiny, spinning atoms, they will shine and spin no more And the lives we led as Playmates are just memories of before Well, I know the golden rule: Leave 'em screaming "What the Heck?!" As you float softly away on your spinning, prehensile neck Player, Goodbye Remember when you helped me launch a cow into the air? And re- Member the time I became a blind cave salamander? The good times may be past now, but that doesn't mean they're dead Just ask Psy-Crow, or Professor Monkey-For-A-Head We've been underneath the ocean and through vortexes in space We've run across the bacon on some giant monster's plates Yeah, we've had a groovy run, kid; we're almost out of time Before I go, Pete sends his love, these days he's doing fine Player, Goodbye

Love me As I tell my story Revel in my glory Feel my failure, too There is such a lot to tell If you love me, listen well Mistakes Tiny jewelled heartbreaks Stupid, treasured keepsakes These I offer you Notice how they glitter bright Even in the dimmest light If you truly care for me Build a house for me in your memory For love earns a story Sculpture Chiseled, worn and rendered Artists swinging hammers Chisels fresh and keen Do you want to leave your mark? Do you want to heal my scars? Vital No process is final When the hammers idle Paint a pretty scene Hang a painting in your room Scent the frame with my perfume If you truly care for me Build a house for me in your memory For love, it earns a story And a lover listens A lover listens Ah If you truly care for me Build a house for me in your memory For love, love earns a story And a lover listens A lover listens A lover listens

I don't love my baby and my baby don't love me (x2) But she holds me so nice, I never wanna be set free She's got two long arms, she's stronger than a bear (x2) She's soft as a pillow and comfy as a rockin' chair When my heart's broken, I'm so blue that I can't speak (x2) I just find her arms and I sleep straight through the week She thinks I look funny and she always give me lip (x2) We cuddle so much we joined up at the hip Yeah, my baby holds me... Some day she'll leave me, and I'll be sleeping all alone (x2) I'll just call up my baby, she'll hold me through the telephone Hold me, baby!...

Here's the pit of your stomach Here's the bags of your eyes Here's your fingers clenching into fists And if I knew em I'd kick the shit out of em Here's where you breathe too fast Here's where you panic Here's where nothing fits And if I knew em I'd kick the shit out of em

I fought the demon in your head, my friend A blanket for the chill I coaxed you from Death's lonely arms When the voices all went still So dream on through the night, old friend Say one goodbye to me Your burden was light, my friend But this morning, I am free This morning, I am free I bought a flame to keep you warm Paid a pretty fee Wear it round your neck, my friend And please remember me So sleep on out of the wind, old friend Say one goodbye to me No more wonderin', old friend This morning, I am free This morning, I am free

about

We started the Crankbox Obeys series in June of 2012, writing a song every week, for a year, based on a randomly-chosen suggestion from our listeners. By the time we finished, people started asking where to download our music, so they could take it with them. The answer is: Here, in our first album! Pay what you think it's worth -- here's our favourite recordings out of our Crankbox Obeys series, the Crankbox Obeys Collection 1.

Track 1: (I've Got A) Bad Feeling (About This) - we asked for a phrase, you suggested the title.
Track 2: My Menagerie - we decided to write about a room, and asked, "What's in this room?" You told us, "The Mexican wart-frog (he's super good at quacking)".
Track 3: Hard Candy - we asked for a single word. You suggested "candy".
Track 4: Player, Goodbye - we asked you, "What is something you can't enjoy anymore?" You answered, "Earthworm Jim".
Track 5: A Lover Listens - we asked, "What's your favourite suggestion of the past year that we haven't used?" You gave us back "storytime".
Track 6: My Baby Holds Me - we asked for something comfortable. You responded "a really good hug".
Track 7: Older Brother - we asked for something that made you happy. You told us, "listening to Radiohead".
Track 8: Song for Chaedi - we asked, "We're about to end the series. What do we have to write about before we finish?" You told us to write something about Dylan's Dungeons and Dragons campaign. We said okay.
